Build with Shopify.

Execution Space is a Toronto-based Shopify Partner working with merchants across Canada and the US — builds, replatforms, integrations, and the operations behind them, from first store to Shopify Plus.

What's included

Storefronts that perform in production.

  • Shopify Partner since 2013 — one of Shopify's early partners
  • Storefront design & theme development
  • Headless / Hydrogen builds
  • Third-party integrations
  • Ongoing support & retainer
Execution Space has been building on Shopify since 2013 — on Shopify Plus since it launched — from early merchant builds to Plus migrations, apps, and wholesale systems.
How we do it

The storefront is the least of it.

A Shopify build rarely stalls on the theme. It stalls on the product data behind it, the system that owns pricing, and the handful of decisions nobody made out loud — so those are the ones we make first.

  1. Separate the theme problem from the data problem

A good deal of what arrives as a design brief is really product data or process. Naming which is which before anyone opens a template is what keeps a build from stalling in QA.

  2. Build the theme so merchandising can move without a developer

Sections, blocks and metafields, arranged so the people running the store can change it. A theme that needs a ticket for every edit is a theme that gets worked around.

  3. Take headless only when it earns it

Hydrogen and Oxygen are the right answer for some storefronts and an expensive detour for others. The test is whether the front end has requirements Liquid genuinely cannot express — not whether the stack sounds current.

  4. Connect what the store actually depends on

Inventory, pricing, fulfilment and customer records usually live somewhere else. We make the app-versus-middleware call on the merits, and we make the integration observable, so a silent failure is not something your customers discover first.

  5. Hand it over so it survives us

Documentation, monitoring and a support path from the first week, not the last. The measure of a build is whether it still holds up long after the team that built it has moved on.

Since 2013

The theme layer keeps moving. That is the job.

Shopify's storefront stack has been rebuilt underneath everyone who works on it. Liquid themes, then Online Store 2.0 with sections, blocks and metafields, then Hydrogen and Oxygen for teams going headless. Each shift moved where the logic is supposed to live — and each one left a generation of stores sitting on the previous answer.

Building on Shopify since 2013 means we have migrated our own work across every one of those shifts. That is what shows up on a build: knowing which parts of a storefront belong in the theme, which belong in metafields, which belong in an app, and which belong outside Shopify entirely — and knowing that the honest answer has changed more than once.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Are you a Shopify Partner?

Yes — Execution Space has been a Shopify Partner since 2013, on Shopify Plus since Plus launched.

Do you work with Shopify Plus?

Yes. Migrations to Plus, custom checkout, wholesale/B2B channel builds, and the ERP and systems integration around them.

Do you build Shopify apps?

Yes — custom apps and integrations, from App Bridge and Polaris admin apps to Functions and middleware.

Where are you based and where do you work?

We're based in Toronto, Canada, and work with merchants across Canada and North America — embedded with your team, wherever it sits.

Do we need to go headless?

Only if your storefront has requirements Liquid genuinely cannot express — a front end shared with other channels, a content model Shopify cannot hold, or interaction the theme layer cannot reach. Otherwise a well-built Online Store 2.0 theme ships sooner, costs less to run, and is easier for your team to change. We will tell you which one you are looking at.

Can you work with the theme we already have?

Usually, and often that is the right call. We start by reading what is there — where the logic sits, what has been customised, and what is carrying a workaround — then say whether it is worth extending or worth replacing. Rebuilding a theme that works is a cost with no return.

What decides how long a build takes?

Less the storefront than everything it connects to. A clean catalogue with one system of record moves quickly; fragmented product data, several sources of truth, or an integration nobody has documented is where the time goes. We scope those first, so the plan reflects the work rather than the hope.
